Game Master Suggestion
Here is my suggestion regarding in game moderating, or game masters, why it should be done, and how it can be introduced efficiently, without allowing corruption, or inequality.
Why It Works:
While it had its difficulties in the past, it still is/was reasonably effective. Considering, for stargatez at least, that banwaves from the anti-cheat are somewhat uncommon and pretty far in between, in game moderation is almost necessary considering the amount of glitchers/cheaters that play on a daily basis. In game moderators should have the availability to teleport to a given player, or location, and monitor a situation given from a report, or just as a random scan.
Game Moderator Tools:
As far as development goes (C++ coding, etc) i am not entirely sure which of the following is possible, please keep in mind that the following list is provided that the developers could manage/accomplish all provided.
- Invisibility - This is important for a number of reasons, it is important that the GM's go undetected, not only because cheaters may/will see them coming, but also because they are a distraction even to legit players. Not only this, BUT, this is the PERFECT way to catch ESP/Cham Hackers, how so? --- Chams uses a d3d or OPENGL hack that enables the user to see other players glow a certain color, these colors often shine through walls, and are clearly visible, thus enabling them to see everyone's position in the vicinity. If the game master is invisible, no legitimate player would EVER be able to see them! Only esp/cham hackers would be able to see the in game moderator, thus proving that they do indeed have hacks enabled. The hacker will not notice that you are invisible considering that the Cham itself completely encapsulates the player in a glowed light, meaning that is the only thing they will see/attack.
- Extra Sensory Perception/ESP - This is another great tool for in game moderators, this can also be used by a moderator to enable them to see if someone else with chams/esp is looking directly at them, through walls. Any player that has hacked in the original **** can tell you, "Once you have ESP, you KNOW who else has ESP". This could be a great asset for GM's in determining whether or not a player is a hacker. Remember ESP is the mighty game killer, and is the hardest thing to detect, fighting fire with fire is the best way to detect these users. NOTE: It is important that Game Masters are trained to be SURE that the player is ESP hacking, and not just simply looking in the GM's direction by chance.
