When i go to the link in the email.. it says i need to enter my username and password and when i do.. it closes and reopens like nothing happened.. and nothing does happen (i've tried both methods.. neither work)

I'll see this... http://snag.gy/HMu0O.jpg .. then it wont work when i put in the credentials .. such as it goes away for about 2 seconds and pops back up..and when i hit cancel it will give a 401 error

Do you have pop up blocker turned on? If you use chrome and it is on, allow it. Has happened before with plenty of things.
